Dee, Faith and Bone Cancer

I am learning a great deal about Running on Faith from watching my sister, Dee, battle bone cancer.
One of the thrills in athletics is pushing yourself beyond previously known limits and watching others do the same. This includes beyond what we previously believed as the line of physical and emotional exhaustion and resulting collapse.
"Now faith is the assurance of things hoped for, the conviction of things not seen. For by it the men of old gained approval. By faith we understand that the worlds were prepared by the word of God, so that what is seen was not made out of things which are visible." (Hebrews 11:1–3, NASB95)
Dee could not compete in sports due to challenges with her knees. Despite this she has and does remain a strong encourager to myself along with other atlhetes and teams she follows.
However, I am truly inspired in watching her battle cancer. She first successfully defeated breast cancer from February 2014 thru September 2014. Last July bone cancer chose to challenge her.
Last week she entered ICU for the second time in two weeks, this time for two or three days before transferring to PCU (Perferential Care). Her attitude remains upbeat while her faith remains founded on the solid rock of Christ's words (Matthew 7:24-27).
The hospital released her on Thursday afternoon. She and her smile joined us at my mom's on Christmas Day. She is running an amazing race.
I have not once heard Dee complain or ask, "Why me?"

Yes, she has faced previous hardships including losing a son and our dad 10 weeks apart in 2006. Her faith and hope remain in Christ.
She possesses an iron will to win this battle with bone cancer, her son Wyatt provides extra incentive.
These types of athletic performances often result in the athlete receiving headlines and their picture in the newspaper as well as sometimes their name in every major paper around the world. Not so with most cancer patients.
Dee your battle with cancer epitomizes Running on Faith, pushing yourself far beyond previously known limits. You inspire me, your friends, family and many whom you have never met.
Keep fighting! Continue trusting God through Christ, focusing on "the assurance of things hoped for, the conviction not seen."
We love you, Dee !I

She anwered the phone in tears...

Last night my sister answered the phone in tears.

She entered the hospital the previous day for tests after having "the crud" for four days with no relief in sight. An hour prior to my phone call, the doctor presented the tests results. She has bone cancer.

"Our family has beaten this once and we will beat it again" she adamantly responded.
Last September (2014) she completed her chemotherapy and radiation to successfully defeat breast cancer after receiving the diagnosis in February 2014.

God willing, I know that she will also win this battle! Psalm 139, along other passages and the totality of scripture, assures us of God's complete sovereignty.

This complete sovereignty includes our willingness to hear and obey His commands. Solomon receives great wisdom and numerous other gifts after replying to God with a request for a discerning heart, which is literally a hearing heart.

Requesting a hearing heart does not guarantee our receiving a physically and financially glorious life. Rather, a hearing heart provides us with hearing God's wisdom, receiving His Peace, Joy, Gratitude and desire for continual Prayer (1 Thess 5:16-18) because this is God's will for us in Christ Jesus.

God placed on my heart the urgency to once again take Cellgevity which produces intracellular Glutathione, your body's master antioxidant.

With cancer having an affect on every member of my immediate family except me, prudence demands my taking precautions to avoid becoming a victim. Yes, I believe in prayer, a joyful heart, laughter, positive attitude and a healthy diet.

Yet, wisdom demands my accepting and using tools that God places in my path. For example, in the frigid temperature of winter I wear a hat, gloves and coat. Yet, I still accept the heater in my car, my home along with the furnace in my home.

Does wisdom demand you accepting and using tools that God places in your path? Perhaps your immediate family has no history of cancer. Great, neither did cancer exist in my parents' immediate families, yet they still received a diagnosis.

Does increasing your intracellular Glutathione guarantee that you never have cancer? Of course not, neither does following all of the traffic laws guarantee that an automobile will never strike you or that you will never die while driving. Increasing your intracellular Glutathione along with prayer, joy, laughter and good diet DOES increase your likelihood of avoiding cancer.

Glutathione enhances ones ability to exercise which increases one's overall health. Cellgevity increases intracellular glutathione to levels 300% (+/-) greater than other methods and products.

Let's put ourselves in a position to win with accepting the opportunity to increase our intracellular glutathione with Cellgevity.

Yes, I pray before I drive, yet I also wear my seatbelt and assure that my vehicle receives regularly scheduled maintenance. Let's continue praying for good, cancer free health, yet let's enhance our body's protecting cells with Cellgevity and increased Glutathione.

Your reading this blog and links is for a purpose (Ps 139:14). Would you agree, hearing your loved one answer the phone in tears breaks your heart? How will you respond?

Fitness Benefits for Cancer Patients

Fitness Benefits for Cancer Patients
by David Haas (Guest Writer)

Fitness is increasingly been seen to have life-changing effects for cancer patients, whether they have just been diagnosed, are undergoing treatment, or are in remission. Physical fitness and healthy diets are potent weapons for cancer patients to use in their fight against this disease. Recent research has even prompted the American Cancer Society to issue new guidelines recommending exercise for cancer survivors.

One way that cancer patients can benefit from regular exercise is through its effects on their immune systems. Exercise makes the immune system more effective, partly by increasing the flow of the lymph system. The lymph system is helpful in carrying toxic materials out of the body, but it cannot move on its own like the bloodstream does. Instead, it moves when the body moves it. This can allow the body to detoxify and support the immune system.

Exercise also increases the activity of immune system components like natural killer T-cells. These important cells roam the body, looking for pathogens to kill. If they are able to identify cancer cells, they can kill these as well. Exercise helps increase both the number and activity of these immune system cells.

Another benefit of exercise is that is will raise your energy levels, even for patients undergoing mesothelioma treatment. Cancer treatments like chemotherapy and radiation can leave cancer patients feeling drained and fatigued. The fatigue can even last deep into the day. Instead of feeling tired only when asleep, the fatigue is spread out throughout the day, preventing you from getting your daily tasks done.

Exercise raises your metabolic rate and gives you more energy. This will help keep you awake and alert throughout the day, and help you sleep longer and deeper at night. It is the deep stages of sleep that are associated with the greatest degree of healing. Your body will need to recover from the effects of both the cancer and treatment, so proper rest is critically important to your full recovery.

Exercise can have psychological benefits as well as physical ones. Research has shown that regular exercise increases the neurotransmitters in your brain, like serotonin and dopamine. These important chemicals can be depleted in many cancer patients, but exercise helps restore them.

Serotonin and dopamine are produced by your brain to foster communication between brain cells. Dopamine also helps your brain execute motor skills and governs concentration and mood. Serotonin is used by your brain to regulate mood, body temperature, and appetite. Low serotonin levels are associated with depression. Dr. Simon Young, in the Journal of Psychiatry & Neuroscience, showed that physical exercise increases the building blocks for serotonin in the body.

Anxiety and stress are typical complaints of cancer patients. Having to undergo rigorous testing and treatment often leaves them feeling tired and irritable. Exercise fights stress and anxiety through the release of neurotransmitters like serotonin, dopamine, and endorphins. Endorphins provide pain relief to the body and reduce stress and anxiety. The effects last for hours after your exercise is over.
